Jerry Sansom Must Go

Notice to the FWC: For years, Jerry Sansom, President of OFF, has claimed to represent "industry." We reject Mr. Sansom's assertions. Furthermore, the vast majority of commercial fishermen throughout Florida do not feel Sansom "represents industry."

From the Net Buyback Program fiasco to his recent assertions that "industry" wanted the Blue Crab Bill to pass, Mr. Sansom needs to "hit the road."

I've personally listened to hours of Legislative tapes from the MFC & FWC at the Florida State Law Library. The few remaining OFF members need to become aware of exactly what Mr. Sansom has claimed they've wanted for the last decade.

I'd also like to thank Mr. Sansom and his gang for selling out the cast net industry.

One month after Fishing For Freedom prevailed before Governor Bush and the Cabinet on the cast net issue. the FWC took over power from the MFC. Later the same year, Mr. Sansom brought Timmy Adams (another Samson right hand man) to the FWC's second ever meeting to fight against what the Supreme Court and Cabinet granted us as far as "500 square feet of mesh area." Standing before the commissioners, Timmy Adams claimed to have made the 14' cast net that he and Mr. Sansom presented, and that it contained "500 square feet of mesh area." Both were flat out lies. The net contained less than "400 square feet of mesh area," and we knew by the construction of the cast net, that it was made by Mr. Sheldon Deal. Mr. Deal later confirmed this for us. In fact, Mr. Adams admitted that he lied in the commission meeting to me when I cornered him.

The subsequent ruling by the FWC that cast nets were allowed a maximum of 14 stretch feet was based on OFF lies and was used three years retroactively (illegally, ex-post-facto) by the courts to dismiss a wrongful arrest lawsuit by me against the FWC and to grant an FWC officer that was not being sued with immunity. My income has suffered a 20% drop for 8 years due to Mr. Samson and OFF ignoring the constitutional interpretation laid out in our Supreme Court and Cabinet victories.
